You’re looking for ways to make some extra money but you don’t want to pay for a course or have to learn something new.

If you’ve spent any amount of time combing through Google, you’ll notice that most of the articles on how to make money require exactly those two things!

I myself got tired of reading those same ideas and started thinking of how I could use my God-given talents instead.

After all, it is God “who gives [us] power to get wealth.” (Deu 8:18)

10 Simple Ways to Make Extra Money

1. Pulling weeds

When I was several months pregnant in the summer and my husband just did not want to work in the heat, we paid someone $40 bucks to clear our front plant bed. It took him less than two hours!

It’s a job that many people just don’t want to do. You could easily earn extra money that you can save or put toward debt.

When I do actually pull my own weeds, it’s a relaxing experience. I listen to music or a podcast and watch as the area gets tidier and tidier.

2. Babysit

A great place to offer babysitting services is within your church.

A lot of church parents are looking for teenagers, but if you’re older and/or have your own kids, some parents prefer a sitter with more experience.

My church has small groups that meet in homes every week and they typically need a baby sitter for all the kids.

You should also advertise yourself to your Facebook friends and your neighborhood. Most people need some help with their kids from time to time.

3. Help someone decorate

If you’ve never looked into hiring an interior decorator, trust me, it’s expensive.

Hiring someone who has talent but isn’t a professional is a good way to get the needed help at a smaller price.

Maybe you can start small by helping someone decorate their nursery or bathroom.

Take pictures of your work so you can show people your style.

4. House Sit

I saw a crazy article not too long ago about a couple who house sits professionally.

While most of us would not be remotely interested in such a nomadic life, I do think this is a cool way to earn a little extra money.

You probably wont find many mansions to stay in, though.

There are websites where you can offer your services, but some of these sites charge a percentage of your earning to use their site.

You may actually have better luck in your own neighborhood or church.

Depending on what’s involved (pets, watering plants, etc), you can charge $20-$100 per day.

5. Have a virtual sale

For a virtual sale, you will want to find things that are worth the most money.

Right now I’m thinking of that expensive juicer I bought a couple of years ago and used only a handful of times.

A virtual sale typically takes place on Facebook. You post an alert that you’re selling some stuff and then put pictures of the items in the comments.

If any of your Facebook friends want said items, they can comment and you would work out the details separately.

You can also just list your items in the marketplace or swip swap groups.

There are also a ton of apps where you can sell your stuff. This will broaden the amount of people who are looking at your items.

6. Clean houses

If you are a naturally neat and clean person and cleaning is your God-given talent, why not clean as a way to make extra money?

Personally, I am not this kind of person, but my sister is and she was able to contribute to her family’s finances in this way.

Cleaning houses can earn you about $25-50/hr, although most people charge a flat rate depending on the size of the house and how detailed of a cleaning is needed.

7. Help someone organize

There is a woman at my church who is known for being a great organizer and she frequently offers to help others with this monumental task.

If you like to organize, offer your services among your contacts and church family.

Professional organizers charge around $100/hr. You might offer to help someone for a flat rate if you think it would be beneficial.

8. Sell your art

I’ve always longed to have a talent for art, but it’s just not something I was blessed with.

If you have some sort of artistic talent (or crafty talent), consider selling your stuff.

Etsy is a great option for this kind of thing. Digital art does well on sites like Creative Market.

9. Pick up dog poop

Like picking weeds, this activity requires some grunt work, AND you get to smell dog poo!

Okay, not that exciting.

But I know this is a service someone would pay for because I’ve almost paid for it myself!

A Google search showed me that you can charge about $15 for a small yard.

This would be an easy service to offer to people in your neighborhood.

10. Walk dogs

You may have seen people suggest using Rover to become a dog walker.

That’s a fine way to reach more people, but I think there are probably plenty of people in your own neighborhood or church who would pay for this.

You can also charge about $15 for a 30 minute walk, and it’s also a good way to get some exercise.

Whether you just need a little extra money to cover a utility bill, or you need a lot to help pay down debt, these options are quick and easy to implement.

I love that these options don’t require special training or a long time span before seeing any return.

God gave us a body that can do work to produce what we need to live! It’s truly humbling – we just have to submit and be willing to do the work.

What things have you done on the side to earn extra money?
